①barley is easy to burgeon, which producing amounts of hydrolases.
②The chemical composition of barley is suitable for brewing beer.
③barley is cultivated worldwide, but not staple food for human consumption.
④The husk of barley is a good  filtration medium for wort.

2) What is the specification of barely?
 two-rowed barley(best for brewing beer), four-rowed barley, six-rowed barley.

3) How to operate organoleptic examination?
Color: shiny and yellowish.
Smell:smell like fresh straw scent;
Grain husk: thin skin with fine grain.
Kernel form:short fat

4) What is physical evaluation included?
①1000-kernel weight
The extraction is increased as the 1000-kernel weight growing.
1000-kernel weight is 36~48g in China, 40~44g in Canada, and 40~45g in Australia.
②The evenness of barley
According to the international standard,
the barley is divided into three degree(2.8mm, 2.5mm and 2.2mm) by diameter of belly.
The first degree says 85% barley diameter of belly is above 2.5mm.
The second degree says 85% barley diameter of belly is between 2.2mm and 2.5mm.
The third degree says 85% barley diameter of belly is below 2.2mm, which is used for forage.
③The character of endosperm
Powder plasmid is above 80%
④germination ability and rate
germination ability represents germination uniformity of barley.
germination rate represents the germination ability of barley.
For good barley, the germination ability is above 85%, and the germination rate is above 90%.
For excellent barley, the germination ability is above 95%, and the germination rate is above 97%.
