Dome head or cone head for Fermentation tank
Hi Friend, hot summer is coming quietly, can’t wait to have beer shower-:)-:)
Beer is made from fermentation tank for required fermentation period.
Beer Fermenter is also called CCT’s (Cylindrical Conical Tanks), FV’s (Fermentation Vessel), primary fermentor or unitanks as they are used both for fermenting and lagering. Fermenting is the process during which the yeast transforms the wort into beer, usually the fermenting process will be divided into primary fermentation and secondary fermentation.
For fermenters, there are dome head, also cone head.
The fermenters we usually make them with dome head which capacity lower than 10,000L or 8,000L, because of dome head have higher pressure bearing. Also dome head fermenter looks much more industry. For fermenters from 1bbl to 60bbl, to have dome head is a good choice.
While from 60bbl to above, it is much reasonable to have cone head with insulation here, of course, the cone head steel should be thicker consider its pressure bearing. Also for some bigger tanks, some brewery will choose to place them at outside, so a good insulation is very important for cooling energy. If without insulation at top head, there will be lots of condenser water, and it has the risk of contamination. Besides, double layer cone head with insulation, it is economy than double dome head.
What is your tank’s head shape? -:)
Let’s have cup of beer, cheers,
