The copper arm extending horizontally from the swan's neck connects to the condenser in a brewery or distiller is called Lyne arm and Lyne arm can be raised, leveled, or lowered.
Different angles of the Lyne arm in distillation equipment also have a certain influence on shaping the new liquor body style.
In a brewery, when the lyne arm of distiller is raised at a large angle, it can be seen as a continuation of the swan's neck, with various substances still being diverted, resulting in a higher reflux ratio. There is more interaction between the gaseous and liquid alcohol and copper, and only the lightest gas molecules can rise all the way up.
On the other hand, heavier gas molecules will flow back down to continue distillation in distillation equipment, and only the lighter portion can pass through the Lyne arm to the condenser. As a result, the liquor body will be lighter and more delicate.
When the Lyne arm of distiller hangs down, it is less likely to cause reflux, and steam can quickly pass through the arm. Even heavier gas molecules can easily pass through, so the liquor body will be richer and heavier.
When the Lyne arm is leveled, the resulting liquor body will possess delicate flavors while also being rich and full-bodied.
