What is aseptic filtration?

Beer aseptic filtration uses membrane filtration, which belongs to microporous filtration, also known as microfiltration. The pore size of microfiltration is between 0.01 and 0.5um. Different from sterilization, it uses the form of filter membrane to remove microorganisms. The pores of the filter membrane are small enough to intercept bacteria.

Before the membrane filtration, the beer is first fine filtered and then membrane filtered, which belongs to the final filtration of beer. The beer quality after coarse filtration needs to meet the data in table 5-2 in order to achieve the best effect of membrane filtration.

There are two kinds of aseptic filtration system, one is membrane filtration, the other is deep bed multi-level filtration. According to the different filter elements, the membrane filtration system can be divided into three kinds of filters: component filtration, deep candle filtration and large area candle core filtration. The deep bed multi-layer filtration system is composed of diatomite and cellulose made of a unique filter pad and filter. Generally, membrane filtration is only used as the last stage of filtration in order to effectively utilize its filtration area. In order to improve the blockage and energy consumption of membrane filtration system in beer aseptic filtration process, the use of deep bed multi-level filtration system can make beer more hygienic, safe and taste better. The deep bed multi-layer filtration system can improve the filtration capacity of beer only by increasing the number of filter pads.

Aseptic filtration is mainly used for the production of draft beer. It is carried out before beer filling, supplemented by aseptic filling, which not only improves the biological stability of beer, but also maintains the original fresh taste of beer.
