Three kinds of heating methods in brewhouse


During the stage of mashing and boiling, we need heat mash liquid and wort. There are three ways to heating, including electric heating, steam heating and direct fire heating. For most of brewery, steam heating is a reasonable heating method, as steam heating could heat wort averagely without pasting wort. Next, we will make a brief introduction of three heating methods.
 
1) Electric heating
It is heating method, which is suitable for nanobrewery or microbrewery.
Advantage:
1. Heating efficiency: you can get 100% heating efficiency
2. Easy operation of the heating process
3. Reasonable cost for your brewery
Disadvantages:
1. Partial heating effecting
2. Pasting wort
 
2) Steam heating
Advantages:
With the help of the boiler, we can get superb efficiency and low energy cost
Disadvantages:
1. Highest cost of brew kettles and heat source
2. Generally, not very cost effective at a small scale

 
3) Direct fire heating
It is a uncommon heating method.
Advantages:
1. It is a lowest upfront cost (depending on installation)
2. Many brewers are accustomed to gas fired kettles
3. Some brewers prefer the caramelization that can occur with gas fired systems
