Grist Hopper is used to store the grist at the brewery.
It’s more common in beer brewing equipment above 1000L brewhouse unit.
Generally, there are four styles often used.
Option1. Girst Hopper is on the top of mash tun, mash/lauter tun
It’s used to store the milled malts. Usually there is grist hydrator on the top of mash tun to connect with grist hopper.
And there is flexible auger to connect the grist miller machine and grist hopper.
Option2. Grist Hopper is installed on the ground.
Usually the microbrewery has a limited ceiling height, so the grist hopper is installed on the ground.
There are two flexible auger to connect the grist miller machine and mashing tun.
Option3. Grist Hopper is under the grist miller machine
The miller machine with a platform for easy operate.
Option4. Grist Hopper is on the top of miller machine
This will allow the entire malt bill to be loaded in prior to brewing and can be milled and transported to the grist hydrated via the conveyer during mash in.
