Operation of Wort Filtering

1)Wort reflow: Note please the stillness time, once reach the required time, it must ask for reflow in time. Open the related valves and let wort reflow 5-10 minutes in the lauter tun system , after observing limpidity of wort, switch return valve and pump wort into the boiling tank.
Note please: When using wort pump to draw off the wort of lauter tun should be very carefully to control the flow rate of wort and keep the stability of reflow.


2)Testing the first produced wort: after filtering 20 minutes, pick some samples of
them to test the Concentration of the original wort
Hot wort treatment: take a testing barrel of wort from the boiling tank, and then
add them to the tap water barrel slowly, after that cooling them to below 30 ℃
(can use other cooling means as well, but cold water is forbidden to add them into
it), and shaking up.

Sugar content measurements: take one sugar content meter with measuring rage 10-20 BX, and put the end with mercury into wort slowly. When it is close to the expected numbers begin to loose your hand. 5 minutes later to read the numerical value of wort concave surface. Pick the Sugar content meter slowly and check the wort temperature of meter and then find out the correct value of related sugar content.
To get the content value of original wort. When using saccharometer should be very carefully without fast picking. After using must ask for water cleaning, drying and good maintenance.

3)Grain washing: Start to wash grain when the filter of original wort nearly exposed to the surface of lauter tun. Estimate water qty which used for washing tank based on the original wort content. Then crawl move (must not be launched directly) the lauter tun for stirring. After grains turn up, then start stirring 3– 5 minutes, after that stop 10 – 15 minutes. Follows according to a. “Wort reflow “ to pick up the second time wort. If necessary, can use the same method to three times wort

4)Mixed concentration: washing grains 1-2 times, stop filtering when mixed wort concentration
reach 9.0-9.5 BX. Draining off the grain skins and cleaning the lauter tun.
Note please: During the Wort filtration process, if the wort is not limpidity or difficult to filter, please stir mash water and then wait for 10 minutes to re-start reflow until the wort become limpidity.
